One of the thirteen films previewed at the 2011 D23 Expo in Anaheim, The Odd Life of Timothy Green is a fantasy drama about a couple (Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton) who, distraught over their inability to conceive, write the imagined qualities of their ideal child onto slips of paper and bury the scrips in a small box in their garden. Miraculously, a young boy (Cameron Adams) springs from this trove of hopes and wishes, seemingly in answer to their prayers.
Jennifer Garner made an appearance at the Expo to introduce the first trailer for the The Odd Life of Timothy Green, which is slated for a release of August 15, 2012. She also made some predictions about her co-stars, saying that audiences would be seeing more of Joel Edgerton (indeed, after a breakout performance in 2010's critically acclaimed Animal Kingdom, he'll be featured in this year's Warrior and the remake of The Thing), and that they'll be falling in love with Cameron Adams. Based on the trailer and the mystery of Timothy Green's existence, the film looks as though it will be both a bittersweet drama about family bonds as well as a coming-of-age story. Writer/director Peter Hedges' past credits include Pieces of April, Dan in Real Life, and the adapted screenplay of his own novel What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
