While promoting her film Funny Games in a recent interview, Naomi Watts spoke briefly about the 2009 remake of the Hitchcock horror classic The Birds, which she is attached to star in. This is what she had to say:
MEDIA: What is the current status of your upcoming project The Birds?
NAOMI: It's a work in progress at this point. I think it's a wonderful film. There's great things in it that interest me. The script isn't completely there yet. It probably won't happen till next year.
Are you collaborating with producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, in terms of creative input on the script?
Not yet. I'm sure they'll come to me with the next draft, and then, yeah. I mean, I've seen one draft. It's good, and there's more to develop.
Have you met with the your counterpart from the original Birds, actress Tippi Hedren?
I have met with her because she was in that film I did, I Heart Huckabees. And she had a little part in it, and [writer/director] David Russell introduced us. I was pretty fascinated by her then because people have often said we're alike.
