With the maximum security secrecy surrounding the making of the movie, coupled with producer J.J. Abrams' Lost mystique, Cloverfield was one of the most buzzed-about films in recent history. And when it finally hit theaters with its unapologetic, Godzilla-like "monster attacks metropolis" premise, audiences embraced it to the tune of $80 million, shaky-camera first-person perspective and all.
Cloverfield proved two things: first, people still dig fun disaster flicks in which a crazy, rampaging monster is destroying everything in its path; and second, people love them some Lizzy Caplan (from TV's The Class), who stole the show as Marlena, the cute, sarcastic chick who clocks out in most unfortunate fashion.
