In Goya's Ghosts, an historical drama set against the backdrop of the Spanish Inquisition, celebrated painter Francisco Goya (Stellan Skarsgard) is pulled into a web of passion and political intrigue when his muse Ines (Natalie Portman) is imprisoned by the Church for heresy. In the hopes of freeing her, Goya seeks the assistance of Inquisitor Brother Lorenzo (No Country for Old Men's Javier Bardem), which only further complicates things when Lorenzo falls under the spell of Ines' charm.
